    hi,
    thought i'd repost this.
those who have said they'll be there are...
    robbo,
    Mr_Sukebe
    steve
    rory
    Dev
    Tony (WM)
    paul r
    scdib
    zanash
there'll be a couple of cd players (quad 99 (zanash) and cd5i (Mr_S)) and some speakers (steves 7th veil's and pauls kans). possible dean will bring a turntable although i've not got a phono stage so you'll need to bring one of them too. tony may bring some foo foo dust.
if you can confirm that the day and everything is still ok i'd be grateful as i've got to do a bit of room rearranging to fit everyone in.
    cheers

I'll be there with my speakers.

I can bring a rather nice preamp if needed (modified Audcom AP-110 valve) but have had a catastrophic failure with my power amps. We need two (stereo) power amps - one for the bass speakers.

Does anyone have a pair of power amps that we can use?

To much moving about. They have an unspecified fault - they don't work. I'm sure they're fixable though.

At the moment Paul Messenger has my demo speakers and I'm still waiting for the next batch so the amp failure isn't yet critical. Everything is still a little crazy since our house move. The speakers will be back in time for the bake-off.

Of course, I'll be borrowing amps for the Bristol Show so no worries there.

I've got a pile of Linn LK280s I can bring.

Do you want Kans or Quads (ESL63)? The Kans require setting up, but against a wall, the Quads are just plonked but need a bit of space around them.

I do have a few amps in the garage but, although they might be considered classics, those I have left aren't really good enough by modern standards.

Actually, I've mainly got a garage full of Rega Planar 2/3s, Thorens TD150/160/125s, AR and other classic turntables. I just sold a boxed and mint condition Revolver Rebel turntable to the guy that runs the reborn Revolver speaker company.

Sadly not. I do have an Origin Live Silver on my main turntable which is, I suppose, roughly equivalent to the OL modded RB250. I like it.

    paul,
the kans may not be able to be put flush against my back wall as it's actually a 1/3rd height wall, window sill and then window. plus other impedimenta like curtains and a huge tangle of wires. the esl's might be a better bet as there should be a bit of room as long as i clean out under the stairs so we can use that as a kit storage area.

    steve,
you'd better bring your preamp as well as my naims have dins and all that malarkey. which make connecting up anything other than source components a bugger. if anyone can bring another naim amp then that would sort it though, otherwise running another biamp system in parallel would probably be the best idea.
    cheers

OK. We should be able to get them up and running very quickly.

I could stick some new capacitors in the Linns to spice them up a bit?

    rory,
i should be ok for mains blocks - nothing special, bog standard argos cheapies i'm afraid but i can unplug the a/v system and that'll free up enough plugs, plus i could probably nick another 4 way from my kids room in extreme circumstances.
    cheers

looking forward to it... i've just moved all the crud from under the stairs to the storage room, well chucked it all in the spare bedroom. so there's now room to shuffle kit about with, without having to do the bakeoff creep where you tip toe around a few thousands worth of kit lying between you and the door.
    cheers

I'm sure WM could bring the odd DIN/RCA i/c similar to the one he sold me to help with flexibility.
