OH wow what a great race, so good to see the very best fight it out, two world champions giving it all, some great overtaking. I'll have to do some reading up cos there are a few new and confusing things going on, like why are 2 cars running the old V10???? hehe.

Great race, if that is what the reat of the season is going to be like, its going to be a very good one.

Special permission, because of lack of funds, I think.

I enjoyed the race, a lot of different battles going on. It wouldn't suprise me if the v10 engines rev limiter is reduced more.

Yes the special dispensation to allow them to run with V10s was originally meant to ensure Minardi could afford to stay in the sport, and was made as a gesture of goodwill in some respect, knowing that Minardi couldn't afford to buy in someone elses V8, even less develop their own!

However since the team was bought out by Red Bull to become Scuderia Torro Rosso, the financial element was somewhat negated by the millions available to the team from the drinks company!

Hence some feel that they should no longer be allowed to use the V10, since they can plainly now afford the V8, and that their decision to continue with the V10 kind of runs against the spirit in which Minardi were given permission to use the V10 for this season only (it has a 16.7k rpm rev limit I believe, and a 76mm max diameter air intake, so its supposed to be less powerful, but its probably still a 'torqueyer' motor than the V8s, hence some feel it is a very strong engine, and should be restricted further to reduce performance still more so they are actually disadvantaged by it).

Anyone any opinions on the Ferrari? I presume due to the rule changes they're running the 2006 car from the off this season rather than introducing the newer car a few sessions in.

Personally I pleased to see Alonso take another step towards silencing his/Renault's critics.

Great race, more of the same over the next few months will silence all those who write the sport off as a dull procession. Good to see a good scrap at the front and Ferrari competitive again. Lets hope it wasn't a one off.

Nico Rosberg had an excellent debut and could well be one to watch in the future. If he's half as good as his old man was he'll do fine.
