Latest: Last batch I bought was Train - Alive at Last and Thea Gilmore - The Lipstick Conspiracies, although I've just acquired the DVD of The Crossroads Guitar Festival. There's a few things on my list to get, just no monies at the moment.

Babylon Zoo - Spaceman Hah. Did you know that NVA amplifier warranties were specifically voided if the owner played Babylon Zoo...?

Rob - I'm afraid Joan Osbourne didn't write that song. Bob Dylan did (Oh Mercy, 1989). Joan's cover of it was very good though.

    From a real oldie:

First: The Shadows, "The frightened city" (c. early 1960s).

Worst: Any recent rock CD I've heard. Occasionally I like one track and find that the rest is virtually unlistenable (e.g. Oasis's "(What's the story) Morning Glory", bought solely for "Don't look back in anger"). I hasten to add that I buy these things only when they're on sale at vastly reduced prices!

Latest: Eagerly awaited Gardiner's third volume of Bach cantatas.

First and most embarrasing, 7" single when I was around 5

    Puppy Love - Donny Osmond

Most recent, getting into Johm Martyn, and a band i'd never heard of Stolt, Morse, Portnoy, Trewavas - (Transatlantic prog rock cliches but very well done).

I started buying at probably 9 or so, so earliest singles are Garry Glitter  , The Sweet, the Goodies, 'Popcorn' by Butterscotch?, Oxygene by JM Jarre. First LP was Abba - Waterloo.

Worst have all been sold off, though there is still a copy of '5 Star - Can't wait another minute' :( around somewhere

Most effed up copy is Public Image

Most recent bit of vinyl was Metal Dance by SPK off eBay :) - ah, student nostalgia....

First record I remember buying "Seasons in the Sun" byTerry Jacks (for me mum - honest), albumwise probably one of those execrable "top of the Pops" albums, or first by an artist probably a Slade album.

Worst album (currently possessed) Mis-Teeq : Eye Candy. Apart from Scandalous an utterly dire album.

Latest (batch from HMV): Demons and Wizards - Uriah Heep , Montrose by .. err... Montrose and Nitin Sawhney - Prophesy.

And talking of Nitin, any opinions on Philtre ???

Slightly disappointed first couple of listens, but I'm sure it just needs some time.

First: T. Rex – The Slider, bought aged 9 or 10 in 72-73.

Worst: I deliberately buy “bad†records if they are a) cheap enough and b) bad enough. I'd say it was a toss up between truly absurd 'Harmonica Holiday' (a 1958 Mercury Living Presence) or the hysterically organy 'Hi-Dee-Fi – Organ solos with a beat' by Lenny Dee. There is some very strong competition in this area of my collection – well over a hundred valid contenders.

Latest: By the fruits you shall know the roots, a wonderful triple album of mentalist folk / psych type stuff.

    Tony.
