    Hi,

Sorry if this is a stupid question, bit if I include a flatcap with my 72/140 combo, does the flat cap power both the pre and power?

ie does the 140 retains its own mains supply?

    thanks,

    David

The 140 does indeed retain it's own power supply, but instead of using the power amps supply for the pre, you use the flatcap. I think there's a blanking plug you have to take out, and you connect the flatcap that way.

    Just another thought.

My 140 came (helpfully)with a locking 5 pin DIN (but no 4 pin).

Is the 5 pin din likely to help with the flat cap? I gather some were locking and some weren't. Both 72 and proposed fc are on the old side.

    regs,

    Naim hicap

    Hi,

I'm considering buying a hicap. It dates from 1985 I think. Does its age put it at a disdvantage beyong the normal Naim servicing?

    cheers,

    David

OR would a more recent flat cap be better?

    Errr....
At that age you should get it serviced, then it should be better than the flatcap I think.
A good resource for all things Naim is www.pinkfishmedia.net
    Lots of Naimites there.
