found something in my loft

    hello to you all ive just found your forum by sheer luck and thought id register, anyway what imm here for is ive brought a house and found a phillips cd100 player in the loft and someone said it was one of the 1st cd players made?? is this true and more to the point is it worth anything. it works fine?? any advice would be appreciated as i know nothing really

    yes it is worth something, especially if it is in good nick. These old machines seem to be a favorite with some of the reviewers in magazines such as Hi-Fi World , etc.

    From what I remember there was this and a Sony being the only machines available when cd's were first launched way back when,there were also very few on the ground,as well as very few cd's or outlets to buy them.

    I purchased the Meridian which was a modified Phillips which came out not too long after these 2,even then sourcing cd's was a problem for quite some time.

    I tend to follow a lot of them auctions and £200 seems very realistic if its in good working order and condition.

    The CD player you have found is from 1982 vintage so its almost 25 years old :).

    sorry how dim am i ?? just tried it and its working fine after all those years oin the loft but its the cd200 so maybe abit later?. apparently it had the box cd cleaning cloth unopened and the manuel everything really but my dad needed the box to post something and threw the other stuff away as as he said it was just junk DOH anyway i might sell it. any idea what the 200 is worth , top loader and really retro a year would be good too. thanks

    Adavanced search - tick completed items, then do your search.

    Log into Ebay then do a search for the item you want. When the list comes up tick the box in the far left column "completed sales" then search again. Hey Presto it comes up with the previously sold items.
