Finally got round to buying this CD today (yesterday). I'd read both good & bad reviews of it, and had been meaning to check it out for some time now, having enjoyed a previous Four Tet album. I live about 30 seconds' walk from a branch of Fopp (this is bad for me), and originally went in looking for something else, which my friend fox had recommended ... but they didn't have that one, as it turned out .... so a quick slow browse later, I came up with this album for £7. If you don't like any album you buy there, you can take it back, money back - no quibbles (this is good for me).

I love it, but I could understand if people didn't. Difficult to categorise, very original, and I think, excellent. Electronic and acoustic music put into a blender, finger on & off the blender, staccato stylee. Sort of.

Anyone else got this? Like it?

My copy arrived about 3 weeks ago and I have to say that I love it :) (the g/f doesn't think it's too bad either :D ).

There is one track that has some exceptionally low bass on it and turns ones woofers into jelly !
I've never seen a pair of woofers wobble like this, even at low volumes  .

    Highly recommended.

Fortunately my speakers are incapable of reproducing bass.

Which track is it that discombobulates your woofers?

Odd, mine don't do it, and I think there's lower bass on some of the other tracks.

Probably because of the large drivers on your ATC's :p . And you're right about the other tracks, only this one appears to have that underlying rumbling but others do have a different, heavier bass.

I had another good listen yesterday and it really is a great album :) .

Yes it is a cracker. Very original music, and a nice change from the run of the mill anodyne electronica chill-out stuff.

It's not really gripped me this album. But there are a few good tracks.
    The pick for me being:
    Unspoken
    As Serious as your life
And they all look broken hearted.

Though I agree with the devil, I hear no bass issues at all with "As Serious as your life". I have room resonant issues around 75-80Hz and several CD's with strong bass in this area provoke boom in my room. This particular CD (all tracks) cause no problems at all.

It's not really an issue, it's just that my woofers go all wobbly when it's on and I'm running digital room correction and have no room-boom either. It's just interesting to see that this track really shifts the air :).

The track sounds great but oh me woofers :D !

Sounds like your woofers are running away with themselves, or you are playing at ear-shattering volume. What is your amp/speakers? Not that it will necessarily mean very much to me....

    Hi.

Rounds is cool. Don't know about track 8 but track 2 gets my cones moving bigstyle. If you guys dig Four Tet, check out Faultline, same style only moodier. Try CLOSER COLDER and YOUR LOVE MEANS EVERYTHING for size. It's a bit music to slash your wrists to, but groovy.
