    Yet another of Britain's national treasures has died...
    I'll miss his enthusiasm for stuff I'd have thought deeply dull when I was into "cool" - though now I realise that being cool is down to actually being cool as opposed to liking things that are designated as such...

    Fred was Sub-Zero. Who else would have had a working mineshaft in his back garden?

    The Woal of the country should have a minute's silence for Fred, as well as another for John Peel.
