This preamp is in lovely condition, the fascia plate is unmarked as are the sides, there are some fine marks to the lid from some slightly over zealous polishing (like highly polished silver) but this in no way detracts from the overall look which is very pleasing, the mercury chrome finish is stunning. The casual viewer wouldn't notice this, but felt it worthy of mention - the top would be inside your rack anyway. This pre amp has a punchy sound, superb treble and a deep bass. ...But the 902 enters the lists that include the superb Conrad Johnson PV10 and Carys SLP90. It possesses that prime knack of conveying total lucidity without attention grabbing tailoring.

...as always with the best valve amplifiers, there was the undeniable sense of the sound of real acoustic instruments, whether Cassals's cello or Rob Wassermans bass. However good the transistor competition, they always retain an "electronic" recorded element. It is a matter of freedom between the notes that are played, of flowing harmonics, and this the Trilogy preamplifier and slightly less the monoblocks, have a plenty.

...the preamplifier is pretty well beyond reproach in its delivery of clean, clear cut sounds and gives detail enough for scrimshaw work.

This is a very good pre indeed. It would do very well against anything up to the £1,500 pound mark new. The build is super and the finish very pleasant. It is a bargain for 400 quid.
