I've heard the Orbe on many occasions. I don't think it's any better than the LP12, and it is a pain to use because of the clamp. It also has no lid, so it gets covered in dust very quickly.

Turntables are often judged on looks....

nothing to do with looks it only about the sound, no the orbe is nothing special ,it needs a good arm and a van den hul to get out the best.
ok destroy is not the right word to use, but it gets the point across yea?

most decks available today give a great sound, with exception to a linn ,that is my experience and NOTHING will change that. jesus my lp12 was a 5 grand spec one, and i was so so unhappy with it.

It gets the point across, but so what?

If your Linn was so bad, then why did you buy it?

correct. a happy ending, the point i am trying to get across is don't believe in hype or magazines, trust your ears and nothing else, and spending thousands on kit does not garantee a good sound.

I think you've made your point Rudolph, I guess we all now are aware how you feel about the Linn. Is there anything else you would like to talk about? I am getting this slight feeling of deja-vu with regards your post. In the last three days you've made 163, and you don't really seem to have a lot to say other than an aversion to Linn. Are you aware of the signal to noise ratio, because at the moment I'm suffering from way to much noise!

    Edited to add:
3 more whilst I typed this out. Amazing!!!

i can't help wondering whether using expressions like '' i was so so unhappy with it'' in the context of hifi is a little unhealthy. on the other hand i know what you mean.

Rude ol', what arm and cart would you suggest? I've got a gyro upgraded to Orbe, with Roksan Artemiz and Shiraz on. the Shiraz is 6 years old now and I'll need a change soon-ish. I've been thinking lyra, but don't know if my artemiz is up to the job.
