    i am more than happy with my arm thankyou and will never change it i have had it for 8 wonderful years, you have to know when to stop pushing for the best all the time.
    and mine is the gold plated version and looks soooooo good on the gyro. i find it a revelation everytime i hear it now if you can say that about a product then you have hit the jackpot

    I auditioned the SY series 7 - but the Brinkmann Lagrange beat it. The SY was 2nd choice. My friend has a SY S8 with custom one-off psu.

    I have heard the spectral amps - not bad. As ypu say - a good tight sound. Check out a second hand bryston - a 4bst costs around £1200 used and wil show the spectral a clean pair of heels IMHO. Will keep an eye out for lavardin!

    The sme 5 is one of the best - it can be beaten though, just at a price. Linn were ok in their day but that day is now 30 years ago.

    I use the Brinkmann lagrange with 10.5 Tonearm and EMT cartridge. Feeding a custom diy phono stage and volume control. Speakers are PMC MB2s triamped with a bryston 4b-st and 7b-st per channel. 1.2 kW into 92 db/Wm speakers.

    <laughs like a maniac>

    I havent heard sacd or dvd-a - though I have a player that will play them. I dont like cd much. I can only stand it through a very few dacs like PT de capo or chord dac 64.

    you talk a lot of sense my friend i have a £1000 arcam cd player and it is terible compaired to my vinyl. and i love playing with a record deck far more involving than opening a draw.
    i think a lot of pepole on this site trying to persue that golden sound will never get there with cd. that is my opinion anyway. sacd by the way is awefull. so clinical it is just a white elephant to me

    sacd is like cd only 3 times more noise. it just forces the sound upon you ,where vinyl lays it all out for you to enjoy

    Yes a lingo is just a psu upgrade - nothing magical. Alternatives exist for a fraction of the price. Ridiculous that they are still using ac anyway.

    A market exists and linn are going to flog it.

    This sounds somewhat reminiscent of "mikeoxsmall",a user recently banned from another forum,whose kit list is also similar to yours,as is his general rhetoric regarding all things Linn.
