    Rudolph,

You are entitled to your opinion, but you are talking crap. The Lp12 was designed to allow the motor vibrations to resonate in a controlled (tuned) manner. The platter and arm are isolated from the resonating chassis via the suspension. It requires a lot of care when setting up, but when done so properly can sound very good. I have not seen a suspension TT that is engineered any better, and there is debate, as to whether the later Cirkused LP12's sound better than the earlier ones.

Most modern expensive decks are designed around the infinite mass approach. The idea being that the vibration from the tiny motor cannot move the mass of the chassis and platter. Also they often use sandwiches of different materials to create impedance mismatches for the vibration.

Is that why they have to put the tension in the cable thereby providing a feedback link? The linn cant wobble as it should - it is perhaps the worst suspension of any suspended deck on the market. Problems that could have been put right but linn didnt bother - all very cynical of them.

In 70s terms the linn engineering was good - now it is below average.

Two percent of the people think; three percent of the people think they think; and ninety-five percent of the people would rather die than think.

look when the linn was developed the escort mexico was the car of the day,
now if you tuned one of them up to todays spec and spent a fortune doing it , a mitsubishi evo 8 would destroy it easily. i think that is a good way of looking at it

    In your opinion, that is.

To me, the Lingo 2 is well worth the cost. Particularly as I sold my L1 for the price I paid for it, which was nice.

See you at Heathrow - sunday?

Mike - if you had heard what you might have got for the cost of a lingo and your lp12 you would realise what poor value it was. Value for money has to have a reference.

SM - so what do you have? ;-) Are you one of the people thta thinks rudy and I are one and the same?

instead of a lingo you could have my old planer3 for a 100 quid, then you will hear a proper deck for once ,i'll even throw in an old goldring cartridge.
may i suggest you audition some other deck my friend!

In your opinion, Nick. Not mine.

No, it has to have a result - IMO, its VFM.
