heres a made up statistic for you:

99% of forum arguements happen when somebody says a piece of equipment (that somebody else owns and enjoys is crap)

A little tact in your criticisms will go a long way to make folks get along.

    Keeping criticisms:
    1) specific
    2) based on personal experience
    3) measurable and repeatable

    is a good idea IMO.

Mike - to have an opinion on whether or not the money would have been better spent elsewhere you have to have heard the elsewhere. I am sure a ford is better vfm than a trabant. but if you could get a ferrari for the same money then you will realise how poor the upgrade to the ford was even though it feels like a good improvement. Try an origin live resolution - it betters the linn in every respect. Especially female voice.

Why buy 4? Was it just to make sure it was rubbish. I once had a old Fiat 131 but didn't need to buy 3 more to realise how poor it was

    I had 4 Skoda Favorits.
Grand motor for the money - The GLxi was particularly good.. Many an Alfa V6 owner was surprised by how fast it would go round corners (the secret was to not slow down at all, as it wasn't so good in the acceleration dept!)

all different specs my friend, i was chasing that golden sound, if you are not happy and someone tells you to change this and that and you do it. well i did anyway. the best was a lvx and k9 and it got worse everytime i so called up graded. now when i went from a rega 300 to a sme v on my gyro that was a massive gain.

Well I'm not going to read all 47 pages, so going to jump straight in and see what happens.
Not owned an LP12, but Harry has and I've heard it, I'm not going to say if the sound was good / bad, because didn't get enough time with it and I'm not a big vinyl lover anyway, but one thing that did make me laugh, was if you where playing a record and walked, yes walked around his house, it would jump like a mad thing, funny as f**k, great party trick but I guess not good for the player / record, he didn't have it very long so I guess that speaks for itself really ! :) give me a cd player any day of the week, (oh dear have a feeling I shouldn't have typed that, oh well).

he must have had it on a suspended floor, it should have been on the wall.
    prefer cd?

I baffles me why some people with expensive record players have such badly maintained houses. And then blame the record player...

    ditto

It bugs me that people with expensive record players think that those that prefer cd are somehow missing out, have heard both, like both and TBH not a lot in it, each having their advantages and disadvantages.

The brinkmann wasnt a viable upgrade path for what you could get for trading in a linn and the money that would have gone to a lingo. ;-)

Actually your right it was a suspended floor, but it should not have behaved as bad as that, and he had cardboard walls even plasterboard wall plugs wouldn't have kept the player on the wall, it really shouldn't be 'that' sensitive.

Yes I do know what I'm "not" missing, its the hiss, crackel, bump. screach, please you really don't want to get me started, unless you want this thrad to run for another 60 pages?
