But not for eight years, so no Lingo 2 or Akiva.

Although your comments are borne of experiance they are out of date.

    Regards

Well, I did say I was going shopping - I can face facts but you should bear in mind you post opinions - no worries there, even though your information is antiquated...

FWIW since my last farewell I have: had lunch with my daughters: sold a pair of 135s: ran 5 miles: re-set my 300: and had a very pleseant evening with neighbours and some alcohol.

    Bit of music, too.

    Regards

    Mike

Sorry Paul that is just not on! I couldn't feel the board nove under my feet, but the player seem to pick it up, I'm 8 stone, and I could make that player jump with no problem (just by walkiing past it), I think your comment it out of order since harry's house was still probably under warranty! Its the crap building techniques we allow builders to produce these days.

Not harry's fault, you go into any house built in 80-90's and you'll get the same, cheap house, built to a price, crap quality, it was a Surrey rabbit hutch, sorry harry, its not harry's fault, all the houses around that area are built like that, I wouldn't touch a 80-> house if you paid me.

The michel Orb he has now is a much better player and much less sensitive to flooring types, but sorry still give me a decent cd player.... (says the bloke with a Garrard Zero 100 SB....)

<< It bugs me that people with expensive record players think that those that prefer cd are somehow missing out, have heard both, like both and TBH not a lot in it, each having their advantages and disadvantages. >> Would you care to state a single sonic advantage that CD has over 'expensive record players.'

    Lower Noise floor

    Better Dynamics

not to mention ease of use, and the fact that the medium doesn't deteriorate EVERY time you play it, but again your perhaps missing my point, I like both, equaly, both have advantages and disadvantages if your being picky, but for me both let me enjoy the music.

My original point was aimed at ol phucker who recconed LHAtkins was missing out, twaddle!

My brinkmann has much better dynamics than my de capo dac and the noise floor is virtually silent. I have a couple of recordings (all analogue chain) on both cd and vinyl and have compared directly. I cant hear any advantage to CD - the de capo sounds compressed in comparison.

i have compaired a linn cd12 to my deck and the deck is better by quite a margin.
noise floor boys? you obviously haven't heard a proper deck. set up well.
my gyro sme v has no surface noise at all. infact when a layman heres my deck they are truely gobsmacked. when we had friends over a week or so ago, we were listening to some music one evening. we were chatting and drinking, i played a few sacd's on the pioneer, nobody comented. played some normal cd's on the 1000 quid arcam, no coment.
later in evening i slipped some vinyl on suddenly everyone stopped talking and said (quote) wow that sounds good. now these are friends who no nothing about hifi or music. a good acid test i think you'll find?

Have to agree with Rudolph and BV. My deck and many others have as low a noise floor as any CDP I've heard and far greater Dynamics, macro and micro, especially micro.

FWIW I rate the CDS3 fairly highly yet nearly all Naimees who love it say something along the lines of 'nearly as good as my LP12'. The LP12 is nearly as good as a proper record player.

any way from my experience MOST cd players sound the same( with a few exceptions)
but vinyl varies so much in set up. and you can taylor make the sound easier by changing the cartridge over.
another thing my friend deals in real exoctic gear and he won't touch cd at all. and most true high end systems will nearly ALWAYS be a vinyl system. his is, he has a rockport player. probably the best sounding peace of equipment on earth.

If you shake a suspended turntable it will jump. A turntable is a more sensitive device than your foot. Regardless if you live in a house with cardboard walls you might as well stick to a Denon mini system.

Anyway when the installation is at fault, and clearly goes against the makers advice, don't blame the equipment. It's just dim. It's like sticking electrostatic speakers against a wall in small room and complaining that they don't sound good.

BTW heard a well setup Oracle (the new one) and a SY S7 and a bow zz 8 all through a humoungeous valve amp (20K) into a pair of Zingali 15" home monitor, and do you know, there was nothing in it between any of them.

And as for TTs with no noise floor, codswallop!
Mebbe with a perfectly clean and well-looked after record - but some of my more "used" singles don't half crackle...
And I've got an Advantage - the S1 cdp. Is the Disadvantage their turntable?

The Clearaudios are exceptional for digging out every last crackle.
