Probably - I mean, the CD12 was all space and air, but there was no "soul". And when you realise how much it cost, well, it seemed criminally bad VFM!

jesus christ for 12 grand you expect audio perfection i think you will find.
i borrowed one from audio-t and compaired to a ps2 it was just better. i wouldn't pay a 100 quid for one ,let alone 12 grand(what planet are linn living on i wonder?)
or the people buying them they need their heads looking at i think.

totally the opposite of what I heard - our views could not be more diametrically opposed! Remarkable.

I'm not sure about resonating - Clearaudio make quite a big deal about the resonance-cancelling properties of their tts..
My old singles have a lot of surface noise due to having been played numerous times on a citronic hawaii with Stanton dj cart..

you have destroyed them then by playing them on a dodgey deck!
and what deck are you using now? i used to suffer terible surface noise on all my lp12's and many other decks.
on what i have now there is NO surface noise at all(on well cared for records of course)

...of course, the hifi show conditions mightn't have helped - or the ATC speakers (though from the experience of hearing Henryt's ATC 50As numerous times "in the day" that was probably because the source wasn't delivering the goods...

Vocals were good - sure, but when the CD12 needed to rock out (on the Cardigans' "Erase and rewind" for example) nothing happened!

It doesn't happen that often, but a wall shelf for that t/t and CDP is looking very likely, as soon as I get the fireplace taken out which is in the way and spoiling the room/hi-fi layout.

    That's the problem with DJing!
And surface noise, or noise floor isn't a problem on well cared for (and clean) records..
My TT is a Clearaudio Revolution, with SME 3009/2 arm and Clearaudio Aurum Beta S cart.
Oh, and it doesn't jump because it's on a shelf secured to a 3' thick stone wall by 8 M8 rawlbolts...

I've managed to get my CDP to jump a few times here too.

It's either a wallshelf or I fill in the void below the floorboards with concrete.

    Arm is an SME V.

And you - in fact you added nothing else to this thread. At least I contributed SOME technical discussion.

They sound very resonant and untidy in the treble especially on rock music to me. It may be the arm + cart most likely - which is why perhaps you dont suffer from it, leonard?

While i may not like Guzzi's much, I would not stoop low enough to make that pointless statement.
