i tend to find new world wine and its higher alcohol content a bit bit over powering. anything much over 13% is a little too in my book. could make the exception for vin de ecosse though

I agree there - a few years back I went over to Luge to see some spanish friends and drank some homemade wine that must have been about 5%-8% and that was lovely!

Yeah, I guess thats the case with a lot of new world wines. Some of the Californian's seem to be fairly mellow though, merlots especially. My personal favourite right now is Malbec's from Chile. If you can find them (look for Casillero Del Diablo (Concha Y Toro)'s Malbec - tis lovely stuff indeed) then give them a go. The Casillero website is pretty putrid though. If you have any other recommendations they'd be well received!

Atch, if you have any whiskey recommendations they'd be even better received!!!

mad dog 20/20 and thunderbird are the only wines you need. all the rest is pretentious cobblers.

I would usually agree about the stronger wines, but the 'Cairn 'O Mohr' stuff definitely doesn't have the usual traits of a strong wine. What ones did you get Mr.Kitty? You will have to give your thoughts on them as well!

:D How can you miss out the famous tonic wine from Buckfast! It states on the bottle 'No health giving properties whatsoever,' and they really aren't kidding :D

yeah, I got the 'Half case (6) Introductory Offer' which consists of -

    1 Strawberry, 1 Raspberry, 1 Bramble,

1 Spring Oak, 1 Elderberry, 1 Autum Leaf

I will let you all know what I think...tho, they do seem like summer drinks rather than ones you'd have when theres snow blizzards outside..!! :D

thats a cool site - I used to have the odd sup of thunderbird in my early 20's...

I used to drink Symonds 1727 cider whhich tasted like appletise (but was about 8% +) and my first can would be drunk in a few seconds flat dues to it's taste and I seldom was able to drink more than 2-3 cans...!!

    nils,
bucky's only 8% and costs too much compared to the classics. that cisco stuff sounds quite interesting though.
speaking of interesting drinks i had what is know as a 'bucket' in thailand. you take one bottle of sang-sum rum and pour it over ice into a small metal ice bucket then add a bottle of coke and an energy drink of your choice stick in some straws and consume. had 4 of them and after 3 years on the waggon it did the trick..... i'm never touching alchohol ever again a 2 day hangover is just obscene..

Thunderbird - dont drink a bottle and then try to pick up a razor blade with bare hands, equally dont drink a bottle and then hide in your girlfriends parents wardrobe at a party, gets messy that one.

Hi, I was off work last week and i managed to get through most of these....
well, what can i say - to me, they're probably amongst the best wines I've drank...I had the strawberry, rasberry and the 2 elderberry ones and they're so moreish...I was literally gulping the stuff down!!

I can't help think that wine experts may look down on this stuff slightly, but I love it! :D
