    Check this out.

    Symptom

iPod doesn't respond or seems unresponsive when you wake it from sleep while turning off the Hold switch. After about 30 seconds, iPod recovers from this state and works normally.

    Additional information

iPod calibrates the touch-sensitive surfaces when you turn off the Hold switch. Touching the buttons or the touchwheel on a sleeping iPod at the same time that you turn off the Hold switch causes iPod to calibrate to the capacitance of your finger instead of the air. This means that iPod turns on but appears unresponsive when waking from sleep.

This had me stumped for ages :(

    Cheers Andy :) .

Can't say I've come across this problem yet but it's good to know that it has it's reasons  and is fixable :) .

The button calibration is rather , actually.
