What do you think my lecturer means by this?

By searching does he just mean a way of viewing records in a database or to actually provide a search function?

I have a search function but it just goes to the nearest thread it find, I only discovered this tonight and its due in tomorrow so I am panicing now. I have no time to write a proper search function as it will involve lots of complex SQL join statements and as its a web service it adds some complications to it.

I am annoyed becuase I have produced a proper forum with multiple threads but of course this means its more complex to search than a simple message board which just involves one table.

I am also kicking myself for leaving it to the last minute. I usualy know better but I as its my last assignment I just haven't felt like doing it.

    Thanks.

Yes but what is meant by searching records?

It can have many different meanings, such as physicialy search through the records etc. It dosn't say anywhere you have to view them which is why I think he could mean this.

I have worked out a quite way of solving my problem anyway, I will just return a dataset of records in all posts which contain the input search string.

I am just panicing becuase I have only a few hours to get this done.

I would say that to add a record you would want to view the relevant table, and why the hell would anyone search if they didnt want to view the data?

True well I think I have managed to work out a quick cowboy way of solving my problem, aso it shouldn't be a problem.

Its the last time I ever leave work to the last minute, oh s**t its the last assignment I will ever do :)

Anyway I've spent enough time on here back to work.

Actually its a good thing, I was going to code it in the same way as the VB search facility works, but I have my 'cowboy' way will actually work better, all I need to do is link all the posts to the thread it belongs to.

I feel completly stupid now. My brain needs a good rest :)

I always tend to assignments early for this exact reason but with this one I have been stupidly slack.
