I have a krell kav 300i amp and dynaudio 72 speakers.

was running a rega planet cd until builder wrecked it. rega probably lagged the rest of the system, so looking to upgrade with nice £500 compensation cheque (a generous builder....)

quite happy to pay more on top of that. bit of a "first £500 free" logic going on here. looking at a meridian g08. is that the right level given the rest of my system? has anybody got anything similar

any other ideas? quite happy to buy second hand. eg cheaper option would be used meridian 588

    advice appreciated

588's go for a fair whack more than that m'fraid. if you've seen one for £500 buy 2...one for me! :D

at £500, I'd get that chinese player everyone keeps banging on about..

Hmmm, Krell KAV amp and Dynaudios.....

Definitely don't buy the E5 then - it'll push your system over the edge in terms of brightness and detail.

Something smooth with a tubed output maybe? I like the sound of that Lector 0.7T Emporium had at the heathrow show. £1900, but it has a meaty O/B PSU , proprietary top-loading mech and is a lush sounding deck.

Alternatively, a Unison Unico or Audio Analogue Maestro might do the trick. Once again, very smooth sounding players (albeit with average quality transport mechs - this is very important).
