Other than looking at his bank accounts, any hard evidence would come from an examination of the books of the Mariam Appeal. Despite his being pushed by Paxman 2 years ago on Newsnight and agreeing to make the books public, he hasn't. In fact, he's moved the relevant documentation out of the country.

He also claims that the Charity Commission has thoroughly examined the Mariam Appeal and found no impropriety. No such thorough examination has taken place.

It's entirely possible that Galloway is not corrupt in the slightest and hasn't gained at all from the 'Oil for Food' fiasco. However, if that were the case, perhaps we could expect a little more openness and honesty.

I will continue to mread more on the man.But the Kamm site already has me irked a bit. They refer to the Socialist Worker as antisemitic, and I wonder if they believe that simply because they are pro Muslim? Antisemitic seems to be thrown about quite liberally these days.Being pro Islam doesn't mean antisemitic.Stating that in their text kind of dissolves their other arguements for me.

    update

GC did get a clean bill of health from the commission,in as much as they checked his bank account, but not the records from the charity itself, hence the disparity

    7V,
You seems to be more on the ball on this, what I would be more interested to know is what is happening to the Iraqi oil reverse at the moment? Who is buying them and what are the funds raised used for?

My understanding is the bank that handled the charity released all the accounts, whats missing is the audited accounts, although i don't know what the difference is in reality

As far as I can tell, George Bush and his criminal associates are taking every penny they can get away with.

And how far can you tell exactly?

Do you have any evidence whatsoever that money from the sale of oil (at market rate) isn't going to Iraq?

    Steve,

I haven't seen any real money going to Iraq have you?

And to be fair, if there are funds being spent on rebuilding the infrastructure, don't you think that should be paid for by those who destroyed it rather than the country in question's native wealth?

FWIW, I don't trust GG at all. Sadly I along with many others trust GWB and his administration a great deal less. It is for that reason that I thoroughly enjoyed his outburst before congress.

I guess when there is no political capital to be gained, a missing billion or so is best put down to poor systems!

I have to say that this article seems well argued, and pretty damning of GG. I also heard Oona King talking after the election, and whilst one can level charges of sour grapes, she seemed genuinely surprised and dismayed by GG's tactics during the run up.
I too thought he gave the US a good bloody nose, but he does appear to be a particularly unpleasant individual.

I suspect the guy is guilty, but they have no evidence.

hmm its interesting they want to put him thro the mill for that when the us govt gets off for an illegal war, making people fall guys.

when will the justice be served upon the war criminals?
