I just can't get the twit to start after trying everything it will turn over but won't go into life and explodes with a load of steam coming out of the front when it almost kicks into life.

Either way the engine is probably fecked.

It has 10 months MOT is structurally sound underneath is it possible to get some money for it is a case of paying somebody to collect it?

Assuming you don't intend to fix the problems, I expect your best chances would lie with eBay.

Do you know what the engine problem is?

I'd suggest you get a mechanic to look at it. Phone one up, tell them where you are, explain that it's a non runner and you'd like someone to cast an eye over it to see if the repair bill is going to be feasible before getting them to tow it in etc.

With any luck you now know what the problem is, and can list it as a non/runner in the eBay auction, listing the fact that a mechanic has told you what's wrong with it, along with the fact that it's got a long MOT and is perfectly legal to tow.

Stick it up at a minimal starting price and no reserve, you'll probably get a couple of hundred for it. If the buyer walks away, try it again, same... claim your eBay fees back and scrap it, you've not lost out.

If you end up scrapping it, strip any easily removable/desirable parts yourself and whack them on eBay - easy way to make back the cost of an old banger!

No its my old one though my new one has a few niggles so is going into the garage tomorrow to get them sorted.

I think the problem is sticking valves due to a worn out camshaft. Some mornings it would start first time, toehr times it would take 20 mins, its not starting at all now.

Shame if it has 10 months mot then it is saleable from that point of view only.......people will buy a car just for its mot.....but it does need to be running though! If it won't start (IMO) it reduces its value somewhat, although I take someones point about stripping useful bits off it.

My local scrappie is not short of a bob or two.

Not taken the rocker of yet but the exploding nose and smoke does not sound healthy, it seems to be from the manifold area, can't see any signs of a hole in the engine block or fluid leakage.

The last time I had the engine running the chain sounded very rattly but I am sure its not snapped. Mechanically I know the camshaft and piston rings are warn.

I am just quite bitter because I was just about to put an add in for £250 on ebay which explained the engine will need some work but runs fine but then it didn't start :(.

Not even sure what is worth salvaging the alternator, starter, water pump, radiator and gearbox are in great working order, I am not capable of taking the gearbox out though!

Mate tow it to a scrappy and move on.

If you are skint as you seem to imply, sell your computer to afford the tow ;)

I'm with Mark, slap it on ebay with an honest description and no reserve, at least it'll be gone and you won't have to think about it anymore. I sold my Espace for 300 notes after the cambelt tensioner went, better than I hoped for for a piece of shit lump of French plastic crap that lost me a grand in only 3 months .

Hardly shit, just needed a £60 part apart from that it is mechanically in very good condition and not a single spec of rust any where. Matched with one of the best chassis designs for a small car ever.

Yes it did go wrong but the car cost me very little in repairs the total cost was £450 for 8 months motoring and 5000 miles and that includes the MOT and servicing.

Considering you can pay £300 just to get your alloy chip fixed on your range over I hardly think I did to badly.

I could have got my for my old car but the tax was due the end of August so I had to get rid quick.
