Gig Guide

Where do you people find out about gigs? I don't really read music mags so don't ever see those adverts in the back. Is there an online equivalant?

 

i've just bought a couple of tickets thru ticketmaster, and the welcoming email says:

* TicketAlerts - event highlights and on sales in your city
* PerformerAlerts - find out when your favourite performers are coming to your city
* VenueAlerts - event calendars for your favourite venues
* Faster Checkout - store your info to save time during the purchase process
* Order History - view a history of your ticket purchases and their current status

so i guess i can add venues / bands to my profile, and receive alerts.

 

Join the mailing list of bands you really want to see, as you often get the chance to pre-order tickets

But beware the dreaded booking fee.
If you go to a gig pickup any fliers.
Any venues you like keep their website as a favourite
and sometimes take a chance !

 

I don't tend to *buy* music mag's either... but there's lots of free ones about which, despite being full of ad's, tend to have some good listings and such in them.

Individual band/venue mailing lists can provide advanced bookings and sometimes discounts.

And I get the seetickets email too.

Word of MOuth is perhaps the main way I hear about gigs.
