Has this been mentioned yet?! Got the Goldie Looking Chain album firmly planted in the cd player in my car at the moment. What an album! Very funny but the tunes are pretty good too so the joke doesn't wear thin.
Half Man Half Machine is one of the tunes of the year!
I've been a sceptic for a while but give it a listen. Its safe as fck...you knows it.

Haven't got the album yet but will:

"Guns don't kill people, rappers do (and so do the police)" Classic.

The album is only 40 minutes but every tune is good...no filler at all.
    Its clever stuff.

Saw this lot on the finish spot on a chat show the other week and I must say I couldn't believe anyone would give such derivitive unoriginal nonsense a record contract. I thought they were utter rubbish I'm afraid. :( Sorry!

Probably better to hear the album than see them live first off. I put it on as a cynic but it is funny...and far more so than your average 'comedy' record. More levels to it.
Its far more entertaining and accomplished than 90% of the hiphop that comes out of the US. Download Half Man Half Machine and then tell me they are rubbish. The whole local dialect thing is great...its an album of chav piss taking.
Listen again with a fresh approach.

I dunno - I first saw them at Leeds Festival live before I heard any of their stuff elsewhere. I thought they were hilarious - especially "SH*t to Me", which everyone in the field had a bloody good singalong to.

Yeah although sometimes live stuff can be more hit and miss for people who are sitting on the fence or in need of pursuasion...especially hiphop which can come accross as a load of shouting.

I like the bit about entering the low tech (HTML) site instead of the Flash one:

"Suitable for old skool Chainheads working on BBC Micros, C64s or ZX-Spectrums. Knows it. 1983." :D

Yeah that website is very funny...will have to check it out at home with the speakers on.

Was trying to convert someone to glc the other day but they couldn't get beyond the whole 'novelty' thing. I think it goes beyond that with the quality of the tunes. Plus the whole thing is done without malice. The guy I was speaking to was saying he'd heard it all before from some group called the Mac Lads? He was saying it was all ott take off of the racist/sexist/homophobic nature of hiphop. Thats the great thing about glc...they've avoided that stuff.

Other than being less than wholly serious, GLC are nothing like the Macc Lads.
