Listening to the latest Glenn Hughes offering "Music for the Divine" (M4TD) prompted me to revisit Tommy Bolin's studio albums "Teaser" and "Private Eyes" and DP's "Come Taste the Band"

Just wondered if anyone has any opinions re " On the Wings of a Russian Foxbat" which is by all accounts the best live DP MK4 album. Never heard it meself, is it worth a punt?

Incidentally, M4TD is well worth a listen, not quite as consistently heavy as GH's last album "Soul Mover" but is a more reflective output and to my ears shows strong a influence from Chad Smith (Red Hot Chilli Peppers) drumming. It's definitely a grower and has some outstanding tracks.

Good to see another GH fan, I've been a fan since the days of "From Now On". One thing with Glenn, every album is always quality stuff. My favourite is "Burning Live Japan", what a voice !

    Hi Jeff

To quote from the accompanying booklet (Simon Robinson) -

...but Christ, doesn't it half cook at times! Yes they lose the thread at times - the old Purple legacy of long instrumental sections dies hard I guess - but by and large it's pretty tight and while the soloing might break up the flow, there's some fine playing in there...

...Wouldn't it been much easier if it had been totally crap? Instead we're left with the frustrating conclusion that MKIV did have what it takes all along...

    Buy it!
