But the ultimate implication is that an organist is the carrier of the voice of God.

So you have to worship every single word I write, and have to read ALL my posts several times a day

Lubbly link in the first post!
Reminds me of stories I had heard that Hawkwind (in thier shabby pomp) had experimented with ultra low frequencies. Thier reported aim was to introduce terror to a whole audience and/or make them poop themselves! Rock 'n' Roll!

Interesting about this terror or chilling aspect.
My experience with japanese wadaiko drums (the big muthas) is that they create a very powerful feeling of wellbeing. Quite unlike "mortal" instruments in fact.
Organs for me are fatally tainted by memories of school church services (sitting at the back "reworking" the lyrics naturally - if I'd known God was listening perhaps I'd have been a bit more careful).
A brief visit to my alma-mater's website was a bit of an eyeopener: Girls (not just in the sixth form), no borders!!!, two obligatory masses a year, a lay headmaster and African drumming...
Amzing. Makes me feel like I went to school in the late 19th century.

He he he - so I'm in a quagmire with God here then - seeing as I play an organ on a regular basis (a pipe organ, but smaller than the ones in churches - much smaller) while alone in the house - ahem!!! :D

Yep - in our blind school in "All things bright and beautiful" the immortal line:
"He gave us eyes to see with" was usually loudly followed by the word "BOLLOX" from at least one person who shall remain nameless but was 6ft7 (lhatkins/henryt/ilockyer will know who it is now - there's only one of those legends in each school!)
