Is that the adulterer, the gentleman you are referring to, the one who is now dead?
Actually my reference was to 'gentlemen' rather than to a gentleman. Your assertion that the deed was carried out by 'cowardly religious loons' is, of course, purely your own. I believe the original article referred to them as 'Taliban gunmen'. The deed may, of course, have been carried out by the unfortunate lady's husband and a couple of his mates, for all we know. I have no particular reason to doubt the efficacy of the report but it does seem to be concentrating rather more on highlighting Taliban-inspired extremism, than the dreadful deed and its effect on all concerned. A similar 'megatarts' to your own, actually, when it comes to things religious. 'Straw-man' arguments and flawed reasoning were used by our very own government to engineer public support for the war against Iraq and its 'WMD'. You weren't, by any chance, a member of their advisory committee were you?
The Taliban are carrying out their version of "sharia law", taken from an old religious book called the Qur'an. I thought that point was so obvious as to be hardly worth making.
I don't know if he was an adulterer or not. Let's pretend that he was, for the sake of discussion. I don't think any decent person would think that this misdemeanour justifies the death penalty.
Erm, not quite sure where that came from, or why, but at least we're now referring to the 'Taliban', rather than 'cowardly religious loons'. I'll take that as progress.
You assume it was a religious execution. You assume he was an adulterer. Not a very solid foundation to launch your bile from......
In my opinion, shooting unarmed people in the back is extreme cowardice. Doing this on the pretext that the people concerned were alleged adulterers, and that this misdemeanour is apparently deeply frowned upon by an imaginary entity, just makes one despair.
It's irrelevant whether he was an adulterer, or not. Launching bile? I am expressing righteous indignation.
You really ought to spend a little less time worrying about all the atrocities comitted in the name of religion and people having fun freezing CDS. All that negativity will eat you up - it'll do your health no good.
It's a good front. I'll grant you that. BTW, didn't Toulouse Lautrec live in a brothel? Happy but dead at 36.
"All that negativity will eat you up - it'll do your health no good." "Thanks for the concern. I'm as happy as a Frenchman in a brothel." "didn't Toulouse Lautrec live in a brothel? Happy but dead at 36". Touche'
I'm astonished that a serious thread about a very serious matter has been derailed into ad hominem attacks on me. All the usual people, though.
