...or seen the light depening on your point of view.

I have got myself a Mac Mini. Just to see what all the fuss is about. Design and build exudes "quality" - the brushed aluminium especially.

My PC case is also entirely aluminium but being a mini tower looks large and clumsy next to the sleek little Mac.

Will have to power it up and see what goodies it holds within.

Anyone know of any good Mac forums for Mac newbies?

    I am not here.

    Haha.

Kmac if you want anything I can be found as garethnaim in ichat.

iChat is in your applications folder. You need to goto aim.com and get a screen name first.

    Applications I can recommend are:

imagewell A nifty little application for very quickly resizing pictures then uploading to your chosen webspace.

chicken of the vnc, this allows you to remotly control other computers.

Linotype fontexplorer x. A superb font management utility (If youa re into that type of thing)

Littlesnitch Will warn you of any outgoing network connections.

TorrentX A totally superb torrent client.

There are loads more at www.macupdate.com

Also check out apples own website for the discussions forum, this is locked down harder than naims forum though.

Things to try. If your phone has bluetooth and is not a moto, turn on the bluetooth. Goto system preferences and then bluetooth and add new device. When your phone shows up and follow the steps. This will sync all your contacts over to the mini and put them in the address book. Depending on model you can send SMS messages fromt he mini through your phone. On most phones at least you can download images etc off it.

Try out things like F10 F11 and F12

Try holding down the apple key, CTRL key and d whilst hovering over any word on the screen.

All sorts of tasty nuggets like that!

Main issue is to get a decent KVM switch that won't cost the earth and that will support DVI and USB 2.0 as well as audio connections. Don't want to have two keyboards, mice, screens etc as I will still need to access my PC till I get totally taken over by Macs

There is a piece of software for macs only that when your mouse gets to the side of one screen it jumps to the next and then the keyboard is controlling that screen as well. It works over the network and is excellent. I'll dig it out. BUt its not compatible with PCs

xtorrent is 10 dollars, which is the best 10 dollars I spent.
