I'm looking to buy a CD transport or integrated player with good digital out. Something good (ideally VRDS based), at reasonable money. Looking at spending about £350 or so, but sensible things at a bit more money considered.

Will consider: Teac, Meridian, Wadia (yeah, right  ), marantz (possibly CD17 or something), etc

Won't consider: Micromega (reliability issues and defunct company), Naim

    AES/EBU output a significant bonus.

    Cheers mate...

I had already ruled out the P700 and that T1 (too expensive for a T1), as well as the combo from dircon (don't need the DAC). I did, however, miss the P10 when I checked the hfw classifieds...

I think that £250-300 is probably about the going rate for a T1. I was very lucky to get mine for just £200. There were 3 or 4 in hififorsale.com a month or so ago all at around £300.

£415 for a P700 is pushing it though. I'd say they're worth £350 absolute tops. Also, since they're the shoebox sized ones there's less room for modding if you were thinking of that. Otherwise superb transport - AFAIK it has the later metal (as opposed to plastic) VRDS clamping bridge.

    Michael.
