With a bit of luck, you may have found a company that gives a s**t about the gear they are moving!

well, from what I read you get whatever random courier happened to deliver to your town and want to return to their base near your parcels destination.

good if you want cheap though.

    (and who doesnt?)

Lets be honest though, just looking at that shit website would be enough to turn you off to any kind of professionalism.

    Na thanks

The guy who picks it up is the same guy who drops it off and wants to be paid so I think they will take better care of it than someone working for TNT who gets paid a wage no matter what they do.

I also don't see much wrong with the website. Its not super pretty but it is very functional.

The colours on the website are terrible: red on blue. Logo doesn't link back to homepage. Not W3C compliant. Not WAI friendly. No "this is what we do" statement. Doesn't work correctly in Firefox.

That kind of wrong. This is 2007 not 1993.

Anyway, is it a website to get prices for deliveries that weigh more than 30kg? Are deliveries insured?

The idea is that there are loads of trucks going about the place that drop something off and then have to do the return journey empty. So why not put a big list of what people want moving on the web and then if an empty truck happens to be going that way, the driver can make some pocket money by taking your stuff. This is called a 'backload' in the industry.

If you actually look at the site (which looks fine, if a little cheap, in red and blue) you will see people are asking for them to take anything from a small table bought on eBay to a 40 ton full truckload.

As for not being W3C compliant I’m surprised as with no flashy graphics and so on I would expect it to be. It worked in Firefox on Linux and works on Opera. Personally I see way too many websites that are done in Flash to look pretty but are crappy when it comes to using it.

Thanks for the explanation Tension because the half filled middle box on that web site explains nothing about nothing to someone not in the business.

Also whilst we are about it, its in essence a back hander, hey I am not adverse to that but whats the come back if I give Guy Gives-a-shit a £4k cd player to deliver and it never arrives?

I imagine that is up to you to discuss with them prior to the agreement.

I think the main concern, would be you don't know whether the courier taking the parcel back for you is a 'good one' or not.

If you want that though, I guess you go to UPS and pay a premium.

    lol!

I was wondering which ''premium'' courier to pick.

They all have their problems, don't they?

I recently sent something by ground freight, and in the T's and C's it said ''package must be able to stand a drop of 15 feet'' !!!

    hiya!

no, sorry.. it was ages ago.

I remember just boxing with bubblewrap wrapping inside, and then putting that box inside a bigger box, with more wrapping between the two boxes.

It still got dented on delivery!

What do they do, throw it at the destination?

I guess with the Loadup site you have to take your chances with the guy you get but you already know if you send it by UPS or TNT it will be handled by uncaring idiots so I don't see much problem lol.

I also guess that no one would bother to send an expensive CD player or diamond ring by backload as they can easily be sent by insured courier anyway. Its only for difficult things. Say, a pair of huge JBL speakers.

Unfortunately, that is true. It only takes one arsehole handler to cock things up. I like to think that the smaller operations may be better as bad employees may not be able to "hide" for too long.

You can't generalize couriers at all...it's just that UPS in my area are real wreckers for some reason!

15ft drop...that's what must have happended to my ATC's and PMC's last year..either that or a truck drove over them (probably covered in their T & C's too) :D

UPS drove a forklift truck's prong in to the side of a DEQ and then tried to say my packaging was not good enough so they wouldn't pay out. When I asked them what packaging would have withstood a 1 ton fork lift pressing on a 2cm area and pointed out Behringer used the same packaging all over the world they paid up. It is annoying that they try it on, when they clearly fooked up.
