I guess its a **** take, I did a picture of a star and got those same images.

Still had us all like mug punters didn't it? How can a search engine search for anything meanigful from a sketch? What could we do? draw a picture of a car? well you could type 'car' a whole lot quicker, lol.

    Had.

Robert you proved the point very well. Goto google, type 'eye' and click on images, I bet that took 1/10 of the time it took to draw an eye. snigger.

it works off colour - use the chooser below the drawing window - everyone who says it doesn;t work was drawing monochrome images.

Not very good. Nice idea, but I drew a simple graphic image - kinda like a tree or a road-sign - and got back many eyes & faces. About as useful as a chocolate teapot, I'd say.

Its a solution looking for a problem, I cannot thing of a single purpose for this? Perhaps to help identify the author of a picture, provided its on their database?

Nothing better than a chocolate teapot at a chocolate tea party.

Julian - given your superb and admirable progress regards exercise and diet, are you now free to indulge?

Myself - every year this is going to be THE year for abstinence and discipline, somehow my will power receeds by early Feb and it's wine, chocolate and curry all the way to Christmas.

well - i indulged in the run up to and over xmas and put on a stone (lost the weight but not the appetite) - lost all but 4lbs of that now but even then i've still got another 2 stone to go (or 5% body fat. if you look at it another way my goal is 13 st / 20% body fat which puts me slap bang in the middle of average).
then my plan is to stick to the diet during the week (i find atkins to be stupefyingly easy to keep to so it's no trouble) and then go off it at the weekend a bit if i want to. that way i can control my weight but still have fun.
the addition of a bike into my life has meant that i now get loads of excersise and am so much fitter than i used to be - my new years resolution though it to do some situps and weights to tighten up my muscles, improve my core stability and hopefully stop various bits of me sagging as i loose weight.
the strange thing is - even though i ate tons of sweets, crisps, mince pies and junk over xmas i didn;t really enjoy it that much - i liked the mince pies and the french bread but i could take or leave the rest.
    cheers

You're setting a good pace, I might have to get a bit more serious. I read somewhere that white french bread is converted to blood sugar as quickly as sugar itself. I presume by french bread they mean the par baked rubbish from supermarkets, but nevertheless I was a bit surprised.

    greg,
yeah it's supermarket bread - usually although i did have some lovely home made granary over the holidays which made fantastic toast. the thing is the supermarkets use sugar to help prove the bread quicker so you do have a lot more sugar in supermarket bread anyway - then there's the hydrogenated fat and refined white flour that's used and suddenly it's doubtful you could call it bread.
i tend to loose / gain the first stone on / off the diet very quickly. i guess it's water retention but god knows why. the real trick is to not loose muscle mass - the more muscle mass you have the more calories you burn even if you are sitting down. i'm not talking arnie muscles here - just make sure you maintain them as it's very easy to slip - the 8 mile ride i did the 1st saturday back in the saddle absolutely killed - even though it was only a week an a half i'd been off the bike. next time i'll do some sort of excersise even if it's only a few brisk walks. you live and learn i guess.
    cheers

Julian - you want to be careful about doing Atkins long term. It's simply not healthy. All that stuff about carbs and high glycemic index foods is basically bullsh1t. It's not the lack of carbs that makes Atkins work (which it undoubtedly does), it's the high protein level.

There is no secret to losing weight. It's very simple, you need to ensure that you use more energy than you take in. In general that means eating less and/or excercising more. In studies of people on Atkins where people recorded what they ate it showed that there's nothing magic about it. People on Atkins lose weight because they eat fewer calories.

What is 'special' about Atkins is the reasons why people eat less. It's still not well understood but it's been shown that high levels of protein in your diet reduce your appetite, so you eat less. That's basically why Atkins generally works where other diets fail because the hardest thing about dieting is eating less. It's got nothing to do with not eating carbs or any of the other bull in the books.

There's nothing wrong with using Atkins short term to get you where you want to be but a healthy balanced diet (which Atkins definitely isn't) is what you need long term.

    Michael.

(PS: I used an Atkins-esque diet at the start of 2005 to lose about a stone in 4 months but since then have maintained my ideal weight just eating healthily.)
