    @goodluck

    A quick look at this other thread relating to Google looking for staff and based upon a SlashDot discussion on this topic might help to get the CV building thoughts into top gear.

    PS when viewing /. remember to set the crap filter to 5 :D

    Its worth looking into it depends how many jobs they are and what they are though. I am now only looking for temporary or part time work, I have applied for a data input job but I am yet to hear anything.

    Most start businesses fail AT you need to face this as a potential fact. You don't need money to 'get by' you need money for all sorts of things.

    It sounds like fear to be plain and simple. What a wonderful opportunity for someone with your skills.

    No but I there isn't really enough detail about this to do much, it will be ages before google move there so all I can do is check google for jobs and try and find out where they will be locating so I can write to them.

    Gary - A lot of businesses do fail but there are a lot of steps to minimise that risk, I realise I need a fall back plan though. My dad had everything against him when he started he takes quite a lot of money now and he only works part time. It did take several years to get this far though. No business will make much money over night, I realise that, which is why I am looking for part time work.

    I have applied for three jobs so far this week. I found out that one of my mates who got a first got that Bootle job, and he is traveling from South Manchester to Bootle everyday by trains thats how few jobs they are.

    This means there is a great oppurtunity for self employment.

    I have just got an interview for a systems analyst/project manager job they said my CV has been shortlisted down to a number of 5 so its promising. Its for a very big household name as well. The pay is not great but its above average for a 23 year old :).

    I just need to make sure I fully research the job and the company now :).

    There's a BIG difference between data input and project management! Do you have prior SA/PM experience? Having just secured a new job for a large, extremely profitable bank (which I can't name!) after a search of a few weeks without work, I can sympathise, but I'd be very wary of any company that offers a combined systems analysis/project manager job - the two aren't really compatible - one is hands on, one isn't, and a PM role of any description ought to pay WELL.

    I've ~11 years commercial experience but that good PM role has still eluded me (but then, I've never been a 'company man' - that may change if they pay me enough ;) ) so to land it at 23 without a lot of experience* would be unusual. Also, in project management, I've seen some junior PMs find difficulty managing older staff - and, let's face it, that's understandable: if you're 35, you might not like being managed by a 23 year old.

    Anyway, good luck. If this fails, have you tried sites like www.jobserve.com? I've landed most of the roles in my time via that site, and for IT it's really the only online jobsite worth bothering with IMHO.

    Will this paint a favourable picture of you?

    I expect the first thing Google will be to Google your name, date of birth, hobbies and anything else that catches their eye . . .

    I wonder what they will discover? Will they see other versions of your cv or worse?

    Google have an extremely rigorous interview and selection process. More to that, but allegedly they are somewhat of a bunch of complete twats and have many enemies at Microsoft, so I head anyway. This gmail thing they dreamed up also supposedly is the easiest way to spy on you and spam you out. Although I do have a gmail account. (before they changed it to googlemail)

    The difference is this job pays £15-£18k where as a real project managers job would pay £30-£40k. The position is an I.T analyist, as usual though with these agencies I have not heared a damn thing, I will need to trace them later.
