I got a Clio 182 on friday, what a car, great performance and road holding, suffers from some whistling wind noise at speed though, so it'll be going in to get that sorted, but other than that :D  this car feels very lively, and is great fun to drive, quite economical too, 34 MPG with varied (but generally fairly speedy) driving.

    Anyway, onto the pictures.

Ahhh, what it is to have disposable income. Enjoy it!

I've heard that the 182 is a great drive, although renault's reliability is questionable at the moment... I wish you luck with it.

My driving instructor had the 1.2 Clio, even that was a joy to drive, the gear change was sleek, steering was responsive etc, the Corsa B (his old car) was a lemon in comparison.

My driving instructor found the Clio to be more reliable than the Corsa's he used to have.

French cars are not meant to be driven on the wrong side of the road :D

Hey - that looks good! A Clio sport was on my list of potential cars earlier this year when thinking about ditching the company car. Only slightly jealous! Hope you enjoy it.

I can believe that! After my Pug 306 DT I swore I would never have another French car - they look and drive nicely but the overall build quality is quite poor, which is a shame.
I moved back to having a BMW (via a Nissan Primera - briefly -1,000,000 times worse than the 306) and it was a 'born-again' kind of moment, just superb. 100k on the clock and it feels like brand new, big grin guaranteed, everything spot on. :D

But, I needed a van and a car and couldn't afford both so have bought an Espace. It's a few years old but low mileage, drives nicely but just like the peugeot......it's riddled with all the kind of niggly stupid faults that the 306 suffered from - electrical gremlins, rattley plastic trim etc....a Haynes manual is a compulsory extra

Still, maybe the new French cars have rid themselves of these kind of probs - the Clio certainly looks nice (though I'd struggle to fit my family in it!), I bet it's a laugh to drive.

A mate of a mate has a 306 and his fuel injection system has completely failed :). But I think thats more do with the fact its a 1994 L than being French :p:

The French seem to be like brits, accountants build things rather than engineers.

the worst car i've ever had was a 91 206 GTI - awful. uncomfortable and unstable.

i've a toyota cts and it's ok. but like most boxes on wheels i was bored or at least accustomed to it within a month or two. now it's full of half read newspapers,PPE and childrens toys and what with my favourite hand wash closing down it hasn't seen a sponge for a year.

my advice - buy a cheap car that's big enough to get yer work stuff, wife, children shopping etc.

He's 25, living at home and with a bit of spare cash, so I think that I think the Clio will be fine. I am sure when he has kids he can exchange it for a nice Mondeo Estate 1.8LX or somthing :)

Them Clios are fiarly room inside (in the front seats), that picture makes the car look smaller than it is actually is for some reason.
