    good or radiohead?
i heard one song that i quite liked (the video has them covered in chrismas lights and the floor is wire spagetti). but it did veer towards the radiohead at times not that this is necessarily bad but i'm not a huge fan so...
    anyone?

    cheers

Good. (Yes, I do listen to music with tunes sometimes.) Not Radiohead at all, much more playful. Not as good as their last album, The Sophtware Slump, but then not many pop records are.

Go for it Julian. I don't think they're downbeat really, if you listen to the lyrics they actually have a good sense of humour. Nothing like Radiohead to my ears.

Not heard much of their stuff but to my ears I don't really think there's too much in the Radiohead comparisons. A few similarities but nah!

Only tune of there's I own is "Now it's on" from a freebie Glasto teaser cd given away with the Evening Standard. OK, nothing MOre. Sounds like something one of my brothers might buy (they may have already). So i'll wait for them then "borrow" it :D

i'm a little wary of buying 'on spec' after the flaming lips debacle... mind you i've since found out that tesco's operate a returns policy that extends to cd's - i think they have to as they have no trial facility?
so i may go for it or i may finally cave and get the dual layer DSOTM CD... but...
    cheers

I've only heard a couple of tracks from their latest and they sound OK. Was in HMV yesterday and they had Under The Western Freeway in the sale. Is this one any good? Think it may have been their debut LP?

i got 'under the western freeway' and ' the sophtware slump' as part of Virgins 3 for £20 or 5 for £30 deal. its on at the moment and there are quite a few good titles around.

as for 'western freeway', it contains 'AM180' which is an absolute classic GD track. i completely agree that this band are as similar to radiohead as a bag of flour, i.e. not at all.

imo, and after only hearing the earlier albums a few times, the most recent release 'sumday' is there most accomplished work. sure, it can sound a little like the 'lips or mercury rev, but at no point do they dissapear up their own behinds with some spaced out jam session (album filler) as the other bands are wont to do.

    glad to be of help
