or at least they would be....

is it just me or do all the depeche mode cds sound pretty awful in terms of recording (thin base etc) at least up to the violator album?

i have that compilation, just haven't given it a listen yet. i was in the mood for a little black celebration, and then when i started.... no bass, thin and nasty. i think i just realised what it is that people don't like about cd!!! it's just i have plenty of recordings that sound great on cd. now i find some of my favs are a bit sh*t, i'm not sure what to do.... and no, getting a vinyl setup isn't currently feasible.
