No, he said "non-ringing". To me that means no resonance, not low resonance.


If the QSR shelves actually have no resonance, which I find a bit hard to believe, they would really be interesting.


If I remember my physics lessons right, it's nigh on impossible to have a solid-matter object that does not resonate at some frequency. The resonance may be damped, or it may be distributed over a number of different frequencies, but it won't be eliminated.


It's also true that an object's shape will greatly influence its resonance behaviour. A German company named Danholt once had a line of boomerang-shaped turntables for this very reason (they linger on in the Clearaudio range, I believe).


If Steven meant to say that the QSR shelves have a very low resonance profile and used a little hyperbole to underline his point, that's okay.


Has anybody tried cutting a hole into Mana shelves?
