Stumbled across this, not really sure how, and not really sure what it is

Loads of strange ideas and odd ramblings!

Good stuff!

A couple of examples.....

the spidercar
a car on articulated stilts with thin bicycle wheels to cut through traffic

Bicycles can cut through traffic because they're thin. So imagine a car body (flatter than normal) with four (or more?) long spidery legs, with a bicycle-style wheel at the end of each. The legs are long enough to raise the body of the car above most traffic (eg. cars, vans); the individual wheels then weave between adjacent lanes of traffic. A "drive-by-wire" system with sensors etc takes care of moving the legs. To make it even more futuristic, your driving position would be like in a hang glider, i.e. on your tummy facing forward, so you can thumb your nose at the hapless drones that pass beneath you. The only problem would occur when you came to a bridge, at which point you'd need to lower the body and take up a normal car space; the driver behind you might not be willing to let you do that. Some form of offensive action (such as tire-puncturing tacks) might be needed...

Use Bizarre Metaphors

Here's a fun game:

When you go to meetings, you can get very tired of the old useful metaphors. Ã¢â‚¬Å“Send it up the flagpole...,Ã¢â‚¬Â Ã¢â‚¬Å“Can't see the forest...,Ã¢â‚¬Â Ã¢â‚¬Å“Too busy cutting down trees...Ã¢â‚¬Â blah blah blah. So instead, at your next meeting, start using surreal metaphors. The idea is to come up with a phrase that sounds like it really ought to mean something, then move on like everyone should know what you mean:

Ã¢â‚¬Å“That's like feeding a creampuff to a zombie.Ã¢â‚¬Â

Ã¢â‚¬Å“You don't want to be caught measuring eagle droppings with toothpicks.Ã¢â‚¬Â

Even phrases like these could have meaning, but the best way to play is to use them completely out of context. For instance, you are discussing a server upgrade, and someone proposes to try Linux. You say, Ã¢â‚¬Å“We shouldn't give agriculture lessons to peanuts.Ã¢â‚¬Â It seems completely profound, but it is meaningless. You will blow everyone away.
