I am a long-term Spendor user (use the Classic series now in my HT) and was wondering if anyone here had tried the new SA1 yet.

I am assembling a system for my office and was wondering if the SA1 was the "new" Spendor sound or an improvement on the Classic range.

    Hi Frank

I remember you shopping for the LV speakers a while ago.

    What's your impression?

    Cheers

SA1 is simply music, a miracle comming out from such a small boxes and you don't have a clue, where this music is comming from.

Absolutely stunning mini monitors. Demo'd them alongside the S5e's, hooked up to the EMM Labs CDSA and Maestro monoblocks. The S5e's displayed remarkable timing and I could understand why they had been so highly rated. The SA1s, although with a physical limitation to the lower regions when compared to the 2.5 way S5e, had even more snap and focus to the vocals, exhibiting a sound you could hardly believe from such small speakers. A little bit more forward than the S5e's, they are still by no stretch of the imagination "shouty". They are indeed power hungry, but now grace my Primare/Furutech system, after a search that included B&W 803s, KEF and various others...

    Stunning speakers.

You could try Aurousals A1's, slightly bigger than the Spendors but worth a demo for the price.
