    Hey
Sorry for the general post but I'm in need of some help with connecting various bits of kit.

    I have the following:

TV: Philips 47PFL7642D (with 2 HDMI)
    DTV: Sky HD
Amp: Marantz SR5200 (with numerous connections, optical etc. No HDMI)
DVD: Philips 5980 (1080p with HDMI)

I would like advice on how best to connect all these pieces together, what cables I require etc. Any questions, email me: [email protected]

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance...

I'd have said the following :

1 HDMI cable from the Sky HD to the TV for pictures
1 HDMI cable from the DVD to the TV for pictures
1 Optical Digital cable from the Sky HD to the Marantz Amp for sound
1 Phono cable from the DVD to the Marantz Amp for sound (using the coaxial digital output on the DVD and input on the Marantz Amp)

You can also get programmable remotes that will switch the TV to the right picture input and then switch the Amp to the right sound input when you, for example, push the "Watch DVD" button. I use the Logitech Harmony range for this.

    Hope that helps.

HDMI switch with optical audio switch

I would use HDMI for the HD video.
SInce your Audio amp does not include HDMI and only optical you can use an external HDMI switch with toslink switching.
This will allow you use multiple HDMI sources and will also let you route the optical audio to your receiver.

I have one and it works nicely with my Yamaha AVR and HD system.
