I need a new pair of headphones but I can only afford to pay around £25-30. Can anybody advise me on what's available for that price that has a reasonable sound quality.

I currently use a Nad 3020e amp. I do have a Kenwood amp (can't remember what model) but it needs repairing as there's a problem with the headphone socket (you may be spotting a connection here!), I have an Arcam Alpha CD player and Sony mini-disc player.

    Any advise greatfully received.

You might be able to get a pair of Philips HP890 for that price on ebay, although the RRP is £60. They are great headphones for what they are and some people have compared them to the Senny HD600s.

They are more suited to dance, rock, indie and pop than classical stuff or folk though.

Canford Audio had a pair of Beyerdynamic DTX900 for £35, these are what I use although I paid a lot more, these are great headphones, extremely durable and sound great.

I quite like the open backed AKG 'phones. Next model up from the K55 I think.
