    Tony,

You are not "getting a mauling". I think the real problem is that the system didn't live up to the expectations you set. As I recall you were not happy with it either.

Some of the rooms were so unsuitable that one has to question if it was worth the bother (IMO). Due to the size of the room, some speakers could not be placed in free space. I noticed that the sounds I liked were generally in larger rooms.

The DA system was ok, maybe in the top third, but even so it suffered from the room as much as anyone else.

Zanash - non-belief is a positive choice, just as positive as yours.

by the way, twas good to see the Coherent folks in action. It was last minute for me to attend, but glad I did.

Tony, I will try and make a date to bring down my Classe and BelCanto to see if the new range will entice me to trade up:)

If only I could afford the Marten design speakers too!

do you remember in the mid 70's when we had the show in OLYMPIA london, there were no rooms but open plan makeshift tents, no complaints then only visual and musical pleasure, so what's the issue, rooms to blame do me a favour get an ipod.nando

Nando what do you have against the iPod? Its not great Hi-Fi but it is the future. If someone at the show wants to use it as a source then fine, it is up to them. It will only stop their hi-fi sounding as good as it could.

hi tenson, i have nothing against the ipod, just a personal view that does not agrre with me, but in a way i find it sad for people like me who love all sorts of music ,from classical reggae soul jazz rock r&b etc.. the insult is that playing an ipod over £30k worth of stereo equipment i just don't see the point, is quite good for travelling and private listening to all your favourite tracks, but surelly not as a main source in your main listening pleasure of high fidelity, don't you agree, practical yes, the future.. no body knows what comes next.regards nando

hi, i tried to tell them from day one that sacd was a loosing course, because of the way that they were doing "not only software" but price marketing on one layer only, it sucked, not even the equipment they had to reproduce the format sounded any good, too many formats too much confdusion, also like you said the revival of old recordings that most of us have heard or owned via vynil or tape.... sad.

I agree it is sad to see them waste the quality of their system with an iPod, but it is not insulting in any way... it is their loss, not mine or yours!

Nando - you are blind to the future. iPods etc are NOW and the Future. Its a shame.

You can live in denial, doesnt change anything.

Ipods are not the future of good hi-fi though. I think music servers and media centre PC's are. Luckily they can produce some very good sounds with a low jitter digital output. (Says he thinking of clocking his soundcard)
