    Right it's Friday:)

Two weeks time, the Heathrow Show hits town and is a good opportunity to make up for the missed barbeque from the Summer.

The added advantage of the venue is that it will be too remote a location to attract the riff raff from the North and the various Principalities, so little chance of stumbling upon the less desirables:D

Lots of new kit to see and listen to, Proac alone are launching 4 new speakers, including some real monsters. Vinyl will be, from what I understand, the preferred source component. The rare Vpi TNT/ VDH Colibri combo will be putting in another appearence.

Russ Andrews himself will be available to hurl abuse at, as will an army of arrogant intelligentia from Salisbury:D Chance to stock up on SACD, 180g vinyl, DVD-A and there's a CD shop in Hounslow;) You will have the chance to see just about every style and vintage of the fabled Anorak from all over the world, all from the comfort of the Plasma equipped bar area.

So come on, what are you waiting for, this is your one chance very year to really get to see some choice kit, and to socialise with the nice people of Planet ZG. Who's interested. I will buy the first round:eek:

You're absolutely right there Merl! The location is certainly making me think twice about travelling up  ! If it were in Hammersmith, it'd be a no brainer, easy to get to via train and short tube ride from the South West. Even if Heathrow has better hotel rooms... Hmm, not decided yet... :)

i plan to be there so i'll accept the offer of a free pint. where and when? isn't the show split over 2 hotels or something. if so we better nail down the right one or there could be all sorts of farcical comedy - or i might not get my free drink which just isn;t funny.
    cheers

Let's get an idea of the best day first:)

I personally favour Saturday, no spotty Dixons sales staff with plastic bags;) I will however bow to the majority vote here, I'll have to be there Friday anyway.

Henry, I can always pick you and Lee up from one of the tube stations if that makes things easier. Even drop you back too, if you don't mind listening to Bose all the way:D

I think it's the bar in the Renaissance that allows for the finest Anorak Spotting, being located at the entrance. So who's for Saturday then:confused:

Sunday's more likely for me. I will be available to be bought drinks any time that day. TonyL's suggested a PFM get-together as well, perhaps we could have an intra-forum drink, or just flick beer mats at each other.

I'll be there on Sunday with anorack and Tesco's plastic bag listening in awe to the pronouncements of the great RA :p (and maybe grabbing a beer before heading back to the provinces).

Ahh - I'm actually going to be in London that weekend - yay! Sunday is best for me as I'm visiting my parents in Cambridge on Sat.

However, I was planning to drive up Cheltenham way on Sunday to collect my lovely and newly modified Teac T1 from WM central :D

Tone - if you're coming to the show on Sunday any chance you could bring the beast along to save me driving all the way up to Cheltenham and back? If not, I guess I won't be going to the show :(

    Michael.

Thanks for the offer Merl, that's very kind of you. A tube/train station would be great, will PM you.

I was going to say Saturday would be a better for me too, but I could do Sunday too - looks like Sunday is fave at the moment for a decent meet up though...

BTW Merl, what you mean to say you don't have something like an Alphine doing room/acoustic correction in your car too? ;)

looks like a good split, but I think the free bevvies will be on offer on the Saturday;)

Plus, the poor buggers explaining why you shouldn't buy QED Micro will be less jaded than they will be by the time Sunday arrives:D

Let's be sure to bring lots of our own CD's just to annoy the hell out of the exhibitors:D Remember to dress down so that you are not perceived as a potential client. Also expensive jewelry and shoes are a big no no. Failure to adhere to these rules will result in missing my round:D

I will also be awarding a prize for the best photograph depicting the classic audiophile clutching carrier bags from well known high end brands.

Many years ago I was helping out with one of the exhibition companies but could not afford to get a room for the duration of the show. My friend suggested sleeping in the room with all the hifi equipment, that way I could sleep for free and act as security for the equipment.

Turns out the hotel was wise to this type of activity and used to send security around every hour to 'check none of the rooms had been broken into'. In the end I would sleep next to the amps with a soldering iron in my hand so when the door opened I would look suitably busy - after 3 nights of this I could barely stay awake let alone try and demonstrate anything. Good times though.

    Hi,

I should be coming down from the North on the Sunday. Meeting up is a good idea. We did this last year. Very enjoyable.

Did this last year. You should see the faces of some of the exhibitors when you ask them to put on one of your cds. Having said that, I did get to play nearly the whole of an Ernest Ranglin album in the Rogue Audio/ Amphion speakers room. Not sure what I'll bring down this year but it will be interesting. ;)

What did you think of the Amphion + rogue audio combo???

(i guess my avatar gives my affinity with amphion away)
