Help an Old fart out

    I wouldn't ask on an open forum like this either. I was only asking about asking.....

    I was thinking of having a go on linux, but to be honest, I think i'd end up messing it up :D

    I am quite annoyed as there is no module on my course for linux. I do however want to learn it so it probably means doing a short course such as city and guilds in it. I have installed it before but I just tended to get frustrated by it.

    It may be £100s for THE LATEST versions of software, but anyone who buys anything newer than Office 97 is a mug. What are the new versions for? THere are plenty of vendors selling legit versions of old software [though r-soles like Micro$oft will, of course, frown on it]. Have companies like Adobe, Autodesk, Microshite etc added anything useful to their applications this century? I doubt it.

    there's a linux for dummies book isn't there? A mate used a couple of their books a few years back and said they were good.
