As well as that lyrical masterpiece also see "hey mister, look at your girl! She loves it. She wants me!"

    Quite funky though!

Will probably end up hating them over the next few weeks though.

Anyone heard any of their other stuff? Any good?

    Damn!

    You broke my code!

By cunningly changing the letters and replacing them and adding new ones, I came up with the name "MO" in the hope no one would notice what I was really saying was "I luv peter andre 4eva!"

    Nearly got away with it!

    mo,
i bought the 1st nerd album after hearing one of their songs on an ipod advert. it's not bad. aparently it was hyped to death when released which dissapointed a lot of people as their expectations were unreasonable. i think it's not bad. i've been bapistating about getting the new one as you seem to be giving it the thumbs up i'll probably splurge on my next trip to tescos as it's 9.98 there,
    cheers

Julian, I wasn't giving the album the thumbs up. I've not heard it, just the one song I mentioned above. I've heard the name before, but think that's the first i've heard their music. Was quite catchy and the album might be worth a punt.

I have N.E.R.Ds first album (In Search Of), its ok really, I liked it a lot when I got it but to me its not the sort of album you can listen to over and over without eventually getting a bit bored (I liked the edgy hip hop style stuff they did, alas half the tracks on 'In Search Of' are the style that I liked and the other tracks were a bit bland).

I really like the production style though, plenty of other stuff out there that the neptunes (thats pharrel and chad from N.E.R.D) have done that I like, even though the neptunes seem to produce absolutely everything for anyone....

I also bought 'The Neptunes - The Clones' album though and was somewhat disappointed with it, a lot of the songs have artists on I really don't like much (Ludacris, I-20) and many of the songs on it are IMHO amongst the poorer tracks the neptunes have produced.

The second N.E.R.D album (the clones I don't see as being a N.E.R.D album as it loses the band spymob who played much of the music the music for the first) was out on monday...but then this one doesn't have spymob on it either .

Not sure I'll buy it though, apparently this one is less hip hop and its had some pretty harsh reviews.

I seem to be one of the few people who prefer Fly Or Die to In Search Of...

If you're expecting hip/hop or rap, you'll probably be disappointed. The album has a much more rock/pop/soul feel throughout. There's lots of nicely played and recorded piano and live drums and the nearest contemporary references would be Red Hot Chili Peppers and Outkast although some instrumental sections, bizarrely, remind me of Jellyfish.

It's also a grower. I didn't really get into it until I'd heard it through about 5 times. Superbly produced too.

It can be yours for £7.99 at www.cd-wow.com/dixons

Quite liked "In search of...." but it is very samey in places.

I was informed that it was released in two versions; the first was sample based and then re-recorded, with live instruments, and re-released about a year later. The first release is meant to be a bit of a collectors item but I've never managed to track a copy down.

I thought I had but it turns out that the 2 copies I have, just have different covers :( .

I like N.E.R.D. and think that [as the Neptunes] they are good producers but the "Clones" album was, IMO, VERY poor. Good to hear reports that new release is a bit more varied as another album like their first would kind of kill it for me.

They really do need a could of effect pedals though :p and Pharrell Williams can't sing for sh*t .
