Just thought I`d share it with someone.
Naim Nac72, Hi Cap, 250, Spendor S9s, well fcuk me Jimmy or what and the S9s ain`t even run in yet and I need to upgrade the CD.
Any thoughts on suitable CDs (Rega Planet at present).
Must admit S9s a tad on the large side now there in the living room, but what gorgeous bass.
Go on then someone burst my bubble, a better speaker would have been ?

All off ebay by the way.

Hey Hey Hey I`m happy happy happy

A good system. What is your budget for the CDP?

I'd go s/h Naim if I were you.

Need to budget for some Mana, too.

If you want something warm perhaps you could try something with a valve output? Shanling T100?

Maybe just get a nice DAC and use your current CDP as the transport?

Magic/voodoo/miracle of engineering support platforms. Capable of bringing audiophiles to their knees in disbelief, and discussion boards to their knees with vitriol.

In short, The Devil and some others will tell you that without Mana your hifi will never be any good. Others will tell you that Mana gives curious love/hate results, and others still will tell you it does nothing whatsoever.

Mana Acoustics website if you want to know more.

Mind you, I have a great little system for converting mana users to what they've been missing, so far 5.5 strikes out of 7, one even had more levels that you know who

    Yes, you tried that, remember?

5.5 out of seven, you say? Go on then, tell us all about these 5.5 people.

I was recommended the Quad 99 CD-P at that price level - apparently very special although the main reason I will be getting one is that it has an inbuilt digital pre-amp which will allow me to use it straight into a quality power amp.

Get a CD5/Flat or Hi second hand - I've got a CD5/Flatcap into 72/180/Epos ES14s and it's currently kicking arse - next stop - figuring out how to take up the (rented) lounge's carpet so I can screw down the damn floorboards!

BTW - I moved to CD5 from a Rega Planet Mk1 - bigger and better, with more bass. My Planet's dead now as well - gutted :(

Strictly speaking it has a digitally controlled volume control. Just like your TV.

FWIW, as I said at the time I think my NAD S500 / S300 rig is better through 22Ls than a Quad 99 / 909 I heard at the dealer's.
