Thanks for your suggestions, I did not consider other digital sources. I will not be using any analogue sources....and yes, this thread is for real :D

By the way KASH, KMR Audio in london have the PMC AML1's and I expect you could get a home demo of them if you wanted. Not much point listening to them there though as the room really isn't suitable.

Probably better just to pop down here for a day of listening because, as I understand it, you don’t have the other gear to drive them at the moment either. Anyway the invitation is there.

another place you may wish to try in london is ultimate sonics - they are expensive and some have had attitude problems but i had zero grief when i visited.

KASH, you can audition something similar at my place. I can't think of London dealers but it may be worth taking a trip up to Definitive Audio (J25 M1) or Tom Tom in St Albans (if they do Sugden).

its an odd one really, some floorstanders have small drive units like a standmount, some speakers need more room to breathe around them than others.. like the living voice speakers that were reccomended really need a medium/large room for example.

If you end up with something in the order of less than 13x13 feet, then a small pair of standmounts (probably non-ported) would be a safe bet.

What would you consider to be the minimum width/length?

    Kash,
A bit like Julian, I also have a system pretty close to your price point (s/h cost).
I live in Docklands area of London, if you want to pop down drop me a PM.
Presently using a Meridian 500 transport, NOS DAC, Belcanto integrated, Impulse horn speakers.
