Sad news. I used to subscribe to HFC. Just think that Groovehandle, ZG and HFWW (any other?) all started off from HFC forum!

Sad to see any mag close down, however I rarely buy it these days and much prefer News and World.

    Hi,

Hi-Fi Chioce has now been bought by the MyHobbyStore group. They are the same people who bought Hifi News.

It will be interesting to see what direction the mag goes and if they get a new editor.

    Hi Rob,

I agree. The last couple of years have been good for Hifi News.

The change of owners may save Hifi Choice falling sales.

I only read the mag's every now and then to try and keep up with events and new ideas/kit. I take all reviews (from anyone) with a pinch of salt but handy as a ref point. i did enjoy the difference in opinion between the different mags and loosing one is quite sad. I suppose as HiFi is a "luxury item" it's one of the first things to go for many when money gets tight

    Hi,

Hifi is a luxury item for a number of people. Also it has fallen off the radar for alot of people. People are not interested in it any more.

Things like computers, smart phones, i-pads, X-boxes, laptops, fancy holidays, designers clothes etc have taken over.

    Hi,

It seems that David Price is leaving Hifi World to become editor of Hi-Fi Choice.

It would interesting to see how he changes things.

Interesting. David has a pair of my speakers at the moment so I wonder if the review would still go in World.

Funnily enough I've just been speaking with him via email.
The story isn't supposed to be out yet and has been leaked.

It's out across 4 forums at the moment so well and truly leaked.

Didn't think to ask about the speakers, but I guess as it was a World review they should still appear.

Noel was always a good editor IMO, and Adam Smith would do a great job.

    Hi,

The news was on The art of sound & Pinkfish yesterday. It may have come from here. I also saw another piece, which I can't find. It seems that David may be in place by the February issue.

Noel was the editor when the mag started 20 years ago so he sould be able to handle things in the short term. Adam Smith has a daytime job but was on the full time staff at Hifi World before. Maybe he may want to grab the reigns.

So Hi-Fi Choice and Hi-Fi News are now owned by the same brand :)

    Hi,

That is correct. Paul Miller is the group editor. He used to work for Hifi Choice doing the technical reviews.

I wonder if they will keep the rest of the staff and writers. The current editor of Choice, Dan George, seem to be the first casualty.

I wonder if David realised they may not much life (finanaical) left in Hifi world, prehaps he jumped ship for a reason?

I hope it isn't in trouble.
Is there a way to access magazine circulation figures?
I thought World was once second to WHF in terms of circulation.

    Hi Rob,

The last figures I have seen for Hifi World were between 12000 & 14000. This would put it at No. 2 with What Hifi on 44764.

Hifi Choice had figure of around 7267
