    i did and there is a loop hole that will not make that unit ilegal, also heard that if it were to be so also would be computers.!

    Wow, that's bollocks. I was under the impression that if you owned the original, it was okay to make a copy for your personal use.

    I think perhaps it is legal to 'make a backup'. So perhaps it is just a stupid case of semantics.

    Anyway, I thought all this happened with the advent of cassette tape and people soon realised it was stupid to worry about it.

    Who complained to the ASA?

    Simon, it's always been and still is illegal to copy any LP, CD etc., even for you own personal use (to a PC for example) or backup. As far as I know no record company has prosecuted any individuals for doing it though. Having said that it's a stupid law that looks likely to be scrapped.
