    Bottom of Trafalgar Street, looks like a tatty little Guitar shop but has some of the best gear in town, often at bargain prices.

    Also Julian at Audio T in Brighton is good. Used to be Jefferies.

    try looking at Powerplant they sell Bryston/Rotel/Rega amongst others and managed to get all number of things for me to demo whilst I lived in Brighton, inc a very nice pair of Reval standmount speakers.

    HiFiGuy has an eclectic range of stuff but a you can normally find a couple of real gems.

    Further along the coast you've got Heatherdale Audio who stock the ML Reference series and who also have an interesting range of second hand goodies.
