Can anyone recommend shops within an hours drive of Woking, please?

Id suggest going into London - walrus (valves/vinyl), kjwestone (massive stocks).

GT Audio (near heathrow) is a distributor and is the manufacturer of the 'tron' brand. Visits by appt only (it's his house).

Aylesbury has a good hifi shop too, probably less than an hour from you.

You're very near ''the audio consultants'' but I'm afraid I can't reccomend them.

Midland Audio Exchange is one of the best shops, but its about an hour and a half from you, being based on the edge of Birmingham.

Out of the lot, I'd suggest Walrus as having the best combo of good attitude and stock.

Dont forget the 'heathrow show' on the weekend of the 22nd, most dealers from across the country will have a presence

Cheers, Bottleneck. BTW, it's not actually for me. I'll be visiting a friend down there shortly and we're going to see if we can overcome his scepticism about h-fi :D

There's PJ Hifi in Guildford, just down the road. Never bought anything from them but I have had the opportunity to pop in on occasion. They've been very accommodating each time. If I had any spare hifi cash I'd certainly considering spending it with them.

'Them' seems to be 'him' with an illusion of it a being a team rather than an invidivual, erm, strong personality. Used to be quality gear but I get the impression the brands have changed recently. I take it I'm not the only one to have been offended for life with the seeming tourettes syndrome then?

    Hiya

I try and shy away from saying bad things about people/companies on the net too much.

I would only say that I found them unaccomodating of the requests I made which I felt were reasonable enough.

I'd leave others to make their own judgements.

Musical Images - Edgeware. Maybe a bit more than an hour from Woking - M3 -> M25 North > M1 South, but worth it. Talk to Pat.

I know Chris and it's an unusual post for me, I thought about it before posting. Some audio experiences stand out over the many years of participation. Enough said.

We all have different tastes and there is plenty of choice out there in equipment and dealers.

I've used all of the following happily:

    PJ Hifi in Guildford
Infidelity in Hampton Wick (across the river from Kingston)
    Audio T in Camberley

    Ones I haven't used:

    Guildford Audio
    Audio T in Epsom

    Cheers,
    Simon
