HiFi shows

    I just read in a thread about a Bristol show.
    Could somebody post a list of the major hifi shows in the UK with some notes about their characteristics (pros and contras, size..).

    Bristol is the best but try and make it for the Friday, much quieter and civilised.

    Avoid London like the plague, over crowded and plain bloody horrible.

    Mick, you are correct sir, I also heard a vicious rumour that they'll playing music in at least 2 rooms :)

    my guess is you'd hate Bristol. All midfi, AV bombast with rooms made of cardboard and filled with people who aspire to the likes of Parasound and MF.

    The London show actually generally has some good sounds (probably why Mick doesn't like it) Again, important to go on the trade day but it's not bad.

    Shows really are a bit of a waste of time for me, although I am considering a trip to AES in Vegas next month. There's more extra curriculum activity there than at Heathrow or Bristol;)

    First show I went to was Heathrow this year. It seemed pretty good based on what I had been led to expect and there was very little AV "pollution". That I think was largely due to What Hifi? holding a show at the same time in the centre of London which is where all the AV people went along with most of the teenage geek visitors so the Heathrow show ended up being almost civilised.

    It seems you like to pick on each other: I love this forum :D

    Ok, I have to give some more details.
    Since I am not in the UK, I would like to plan things with a bit of advance (I admit it is not my style, except for at work).
    I am thinking about next year, since it will be the year without upgrades and I would concentrate on music and contacts. So since shows aren't there for getting more knowledge on music, I believe I would use a show to have some contacts with you guys. I am of course interested also in knowing what's around (hardware) and not only on the top segment.

    I need to know the dates though and where the shows are.
