Anyone booked up for anywhere nice?

I've 3 weeks off overlapping the end of july/august which is also when my girlfriend's 21, so have been thinking of booking something up. We'd talked about just touring the UK, but having not been abroad for a while I'm getting a very itchy itch to go furthe away.

    Inspire me :)

I'm going to Portland OR at the end of this month, and may take a drive down to San Francisco and to Palm Springs.

Problem with the dates you've given is that is right in the middle of school holidays when a) flights are far more expensive and b) everyone else is going on holiday. Anyone not tied to school holidays should look at going away during term time for quieter, cheaper holidays.

I know, but them's the dates I've been given. I'm considering trying to swop, but would like to be off for her 21st, and they fit in with her Uni term dates.

    bleh!

I am of to Berlin, Amsterdam and Paris starting from the 4th. I have 3 PCs in my house to fix and two other jobs so its all a bit kaotic at the moment.

Also dreading the flight and worried about missing my gf.

Get the train from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh city, costs around £30 for an air condioned reclining seat, just book each leg as you go,hotels are just as cheap

hmmm.... flights are actually cheaper than I'd expected from what I can tell.

As Isaac pointed out, the dates I've given are rather expensive to fly on. Infact, having been having a look at a few places, it seems to be the very MOst expensive couple of weeks.

To expand a li'l... We'd sort of decided we'd probably either stay in the UK (hottest summer ever predicted and all that), or possibly do a bit of camping through Europe.
Either way, I'd prefer to take in a couple of places rather than be stuck in one place. A mix of chilling/relaxing beach bum stylee, site seeing, hustle and bustle city stlyee, and I'm partial to a bit of walking (stylee).
She's mentioned Egypt in the past, but I'd like to try somewhere new. South America appeals but seems very expensive on these dates (I'll be paying for the both of us), so maybe better saving that for another time when I get holidays off season.

edit: oops! I'd been searching for one passenger! No wonder the flights seemed cheaper than I expected!

Sadly its not possible but when I come back I have a room in a 5 star Hilton Hotel in Manchester City Centre booked including a meal :) I think that night is going to cost more than my entire 8 day holiday :D

I'm going back to Australia again. I have a house in the Flinders Ranges South Australia and all my Cds are there! Plus I do have to cut the grass. Probably have a few roos hiding in the back yard. This year I AM flying b South Eastern Chinese Airlines - mmmm - should be fun. I really wish my hols started week earlier then I could have got a cheap flight but I dont suppose a school teacher should complain about holidays!

If you go to Egypt, stay away from Cairo. Its a dump and not very welcoming, plus the sphynx and the pyramids are not worth more than a hour each.

Do go to Luxor and take in as many trips as poss. I did the Nile cruise some 8 years ago and it was superb. You will leave with your jaw hitting the floor. Only downside was the people asking for baksheesh (sp?) all the time.

You've been to Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin. She gets Manchester City Centre, oh and a meal (love that bit!). Young man somewhere a tad more interesting may have been advisable!

As I said things are very complicated there is two little time to go out of Manchester. The furhtest we have been is Southport and even then we had to back by 9.
